Custom Example #1 - The Small Spaces Bar:
This project started with an oversized 1/2 bathroom in the basement of a mid 70's tri level home
in Centerville, Ohio. The bathroom was even complete with the original glowing orange counter
top (yuck). Since the homeowner wanted a bar, but did not want to dedicate a large space in the
recreation room to a bar, the bathroom area was modified and a full service bar was added without
reducing the usable space in the basement. See below for before and after layout pictures of this
basement area. (Click on pictures for larger view in separate Window.)

The transformation was completed by moving the existing door from the bathroom to the front of the
storage area to close off that area and neaten up the space. Next a new pocket door was added in the
existing bathroom area which created a new wall. Then a hole was knocked in the wall between the old
bathroom wall and the recreation room and a custom bar surface and cabinets were installed (along
new lighting and electrical outlets.) Finally, the wall between the new bar area and the utility room was
opened up by setting a custom liquor cabinet into the wall on the top and then opening up what had
been a hollow blocked off area on the bottom, finishing the walls in that area (including more outlets)
and puting a refrigerator, shelves, and stemware rack there. See pictures of the results below:

This view shows the open pocket door into the bathroom which provides the sink for the bar.

The following pictures show a straight on shot of the liquor cabinet area, including the new ceramic tile
we installed, and a shot looking out from the bathroom. What is not shown is that the ceramic tile was
continued through the bathroom floor and the glowing orange counter top was replaced with simulated
granite and a new bar style sink and faucet was installed.
